Offset Electric Guitars

Offset Electric Guitars

In guitar terms, 'offset' simply means a guitar with an asymmetrical body shape, often quite curvy or pointy. Popular with everyone from indie rockers to punks old and new, offset electric guitars are as head-turning today as they were decades ago.

Here at Andertons Music Co, we proudly stock a wide range of offsets, from classic Fender & Squier models to more contemporary designs from the likes of Reverend, PRS, Ibanez, and beyond.

A brief history of the offset electric guitar

The first offset electric guitar is generally considered to Fender's Jazzmaster, released in 1959 as a fully-loaded instrument for the jazz market. Instead, it became a go-to for popular surf-rock acts at the time! Nowadays, popular offset guitars include:

  • Fender & Squier Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang, Duo-Sonic, Meteora
  • Gibson & Epiphone Firebird, Thunderbird
  • PRS Vela
  • Ibanez Talman
  • Reverend Charger, Double Agent, Descent
