BC Rich Guitars
BC Rich Guitars
It’s fair to say that BC Rich’s guitars aren’t everyone's cup of tea, but there’s no denying that their instruments have some serious attitude! Founded by Bernardo Chavez Rico in 1969, the company started building electric guitars in the following decade and enjoyed arguably its most successful period during the ‘80s — when heavy metal was at its mainstream peak.
BC Rich Guitars became synonymous with the metal scene thanks to the unique, gothic-inspired shapes of their models. And popular artists including Kerry King (Slayer), Mick Mars (Mötley Crüe), Lita Ford and Vivian Campbell (Dio) helped to broaden the brand’s exposure, with the likes of Chuck Schuldiner (Death) and even Slash (Guns N’ Roses) using their guitars into the ‘90s.
BC Rich Are Back!
BC Rich has survived the decades since, but in 2019, new life was injected into the brand following a change of ownership. Revealing a completely overhauled and refreshed lineup, BC Rich’s latest models have plenty of modern appeal and come equipped with innovative features that include Fishman Fluence pickups, EverTune bridges and neck-through constructions with an ergonomic “heel-less” design. Trust us, these high-performance guitars are optimised for speed and playability right from the factory, and are sold exclusively at Andertons in the UK!
The BC Rich Range
The BC Rich catalogue is split into four main series: Legacy, Prophecy, Extreme and Handcrafted. The Legacy range celebrates the instruments that put BC Rich on the map back in the late '70s & '80s, while the models from the Prophecy Series are aimed at guitarists who have their eyes firmly fixed on the future — boasting cutting-edge appointments and contemporary finishes. The Extreme Series encompasses classic BC Rich shapes that are pushed to the limit, and come fitted with Fishman Fluence pickups as standard. But if you want the very best from BC Rich, check out their Handcrafted and Custom Shop instruments made in the USA!
BC Rich Guitar Models
BC Rich has pioneered some of the guitar industry’s most instantly-recognisable “alternative” electric guitar shapes. Models like the Warlock, Mockingbird and Ironbird are iconic for their razor-sharp aesthetics — and it’s no surprise why these have found favour with metal guitarists over the years!
However, there are “tamer” shapes like the old-school Gunslinger and ST models, while the new Shredzilla is a more super-modern take on the S-style body shape. It’s also worth mentioning that BC Rich produces various bass guitars, along with a small line-up of electro acoustic guitars.
