Product Description
The WA-MPX is an authentic reproduction of one of the most revered tube microphone preamps that played a pivotal role in the birth of rock ‘n’ roll and radio ready hits. Based on the iconic 351 style tube preamp, this device captures the essence of the analog warmth and tape era tube tone that artists still chase today. With premium components, including hand assembled tubes and custom wound USA CineMag transformers, the WA-MPX is a powerful addition to any studio setup. Its impressive 300v of raw power and 90dB of tube gain deliver both clean gain and the saturated warmth that makes vintage analog gear so sought after. Offering versatility, the WA-MPX is equipped with selectable all analog tape saturation and a range of tone shaping controls, making it suitable for various recording applications. Whether you're recording vocals, instruments, or any other sound source, the WA-MPX brings out a signature warmth, richness, and depth, delivering true to original analogue sound. Hand inspected and tested by experienced engineers in Austin, Texas, the WA-MPX ensures top quality performance, making it a must have for those seeking the ultimate vintage sound.
Key Features:
- Authentic Reproduction of Tape Era Tube Preamp:
The WA-MPX recreates the famous 351 style tube preamp found in American tape machines, responsible for defining the sound of rock ‘n’ roll and radio ready hits. - Premium Components & Handwired Construction:
With three premium tubes per channel and custom wound USA CineMag transformers, the WA-MPX achieves authentic analog warmth and vintage tone for professional grade sound. - Selectable Tape Saturation & Tone Control:
The all analog saturation circuit adds harmonic distortion and natural compression, offering you the ability to dial in the iconic tape era sound for any recording.
Versatile Power & Performance:
The WA-MPX offers unmatched versatility, providing 90dB of analog tube gain and 300V of power to accommodate a wide range of sound sources. This enables the device to handle low output microphones, providing the required clean gain for optimal performance. The addition of the 20dB gain boost makes it perfect for low volume sources, ensuring that you can push the tubes to their full potential for a classic, saturated sound. Whether you're recording vocals, instruments, or using the preamp for live performances, the WA-MPX delivers exceptional results.
Analog Tone with Precision:
Equipped with a hi-pass filter at 80Hz and a low pass filter at 2kHz, the WA-MPX allows you to refine your tone. The low pass filter emphasises midrange warmth and punch, while the high pass filter removes unwanted low frequency noise, ensuring that you get a cleaner, more focused sound. These filters give you the flexibility to shape your tone precisely, enabling you to tackle a wide range of sonic challenges. The precision offered by these controls is crucial in delivering the rich, vintage tone that defines the WA-MPX.
Handcrafted for Authenticity:
Each WA-MPX unit is hand assembled by skilled engineers in Austin, Texas, ensuring meticulous attention to detail and top tier craftsmanship. The use of high quality materials, including premium 12AX7 and 12AU7 vacuum tubes, provides the reliability and sonic richness that make the WA-MPX stand out. The device’s vintage Bakelite style knobs and sturdy steel chassis further enhance its retro appeal. This thorough hand inspection process ensures that every unit that leaves the factory meets the high standards expected from professional recording equipment.
