Product Description

Strymon have just launched their second ever Eurorack module: the Starlab. This time-warped reverb module offers anything from a small room ambience to infinite decays and soundscapes. What's more, the reverb can be enhanced and modulated with chorus, flanger and modded delays, or turned into a synth thanks to the onboard Karplus-Strong string synthesis engine. Experiment creating all sorts of sonic textures, breathe new life into your mono sounds and just experience a new level of reverb!

Key Features

  • Stereo Reverberator Module with 3 types to choose from
  • DELAY/KARPLUS sections
  • 1 x LFO with different waveforms to control delay time, reverb size or tone filters
  • Four-octave Karplus-Strong string synthesis mode with damping control for string/verb full voice capability
  • GLIMMER/SHIMMER modes
  • INFINITE mode to freeze audio input prior to reverb tank
  • Analog dry path for a zero latency dry signal that is never converted to digital
  • Rack width: 28hp
  • +12V rail: 210mA
  • -12V rail: 210mA
  • +5V rail: 0mA

Singular Modular Reverb

The Strymon Starlab offers all types of reverbs: from small rooms to interstellar soundscapes, it has you covered. You'll then be able to add many different nuances to: put your harmonics in motion with the Glimmer effect or give new colour and pitch with the Shimmer function, inspired by the ones from the 80s.

Modulation and Delay Effects

StarLab's delay section is actually a vast control room for your reverb pre-delay. When used as pre-delay, the delay feedback is still available, so you'll be able to create lush, longer decays. When the Echo mode is on, your reverb and echo will work together to create incredible soundscapes. The delay can also be synced to an external source via the Delay/Tune knob as multiplier/divider of echo repeats or you can tap the tempo yourself with the eponym button.

Karplus Strong String Synthesis

In addition to its signal processing, StarLab includes a Karplus Synthesis engine that will allow you to alternate between bowing and plucking as well as dynamic string damping. This will result in a unique instrument with its own voice, that can be expanded through StarLab's reverb capabilities.
