Product Description

The Gold Member is FFX’s interpretation of classic overdrives. However, some of the classic designs came with a few drawbacks. They can be rather expensive, hard to find & they tend to compress the signal quite a lot, which definitely messes with your dynamics and playing.

They studied some of the classic overdrive DNA, stripped out most of the compression, added a few contemporary features and combined them in a compact, pedalboard-friendly format.

Specifications

  • Gain 1: Increases the preamp gain of the right-side overdrive. At higher settings it will also result in light distortion.
  • Gain 2: Increases the clean side of the preamp, which is not routed through op amp & diodes and does not add distortion. The mix between the two gain controls is going to create sounds between pushed & saturated clean, low gain drive or even power amp-like distortion.
  • Sparkle: Controls the tone of the right-side overdrive and adds more top end and level when fully increased.
  • Volume: Controls the overall output level of the right-side overdrive. Starts to really shine at around noon and 1 o’clock.
  • Volume: Controls the overall output level of the left side overdrive.
  • High: Adjusts the high frequencies of the left side overdrive. This control is a bit more extreme on the upper end, so be careful with possible oscillations.
  • Drive 1 (right footswitch): Activates the drive circuit on the right side.
  • Drive 2 (left footswitch): Activates the drive circuit on the left side.
  • +Switch: Increases the gain range for the right-side overdrive. Depending on the settings of Gain1 & 2, it will allow for light overdrive and up to power amp-like distortion.
  • Low: Adjusts the low frequencies of the left side overdrive. This control can also take away quite a few low end, in case your guitar has a lot of bass.
  • Feed: This control works hand in hand with Drive & EQ and adds a certain amount of midrange and presence to the sound.
  • Drive: Controls the amount of distortion generated by the preamp section of the left side overdrive.
  • Only connect the pedal with a 9-18V DC power supply (2,1mm negative center).
