Throughout John’s celebrated career, a number of electric guitars have become associated with him, his tone and playing style but none so much as the illustrious tones and looks of his original 1962 Fender Strat.

No stone was left unturned on Paul Waller's quest to replicate this legendary electric guitar to the finest detail. Every ding, dent and scratch has been painstakingly replicated along with every bit of fading and natural wear. Pickup legend, Abigale Ybarra was even brought out of retirement to ensure that the most accurate and authentic ‘60s Strat pickups possible went into this electric guitar. The ultimate tribute and a must-have for any collector, lover of pre-CBS Strats and of course John Frusciante fans.

Abigail Ybarra

Known as the ‘Queen of Tone’, Abigale Ybarra is undoubtedly the most respected, legendary and esteemed pickup winder in all of Fender’s history. She joined Fender as a teenager in 1956 and spent her whole life with the company until she retired in 2013. Trained by Leo and the first generation of Fender employees, Abigail ensured that part of this historic Fender ‘golden-era’ legacy was kept alive throughout the decades! She even made sure that the baton was passed on taking on Josefina Campos as her apprentice before she retired. Although happily retired she still enjoys coming back to Fender on special occasions to check her chops are still up to scratch and wind some of her magic for a selection of the Custom Shop’s most prestigious releases.

Paul Waller

With one of the most prestigious guitar-building resumes, Paul Waller is one of the most in-demand Master Builders at the Fender Custom Shop. Joining Fender in 2003 after graduating from the renowned Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery Paul then went on to completing a 7-year apprenticeship with the Custom Shop Master Builders. His vast wealth of acquired knowledge has led him to build guitars and basses for U2 and the Rolling Stones as well as Buddy Guy, Nile Rogers and Troy Van Leeuwen. Its safe to say that any guitar built by Paul is going to be one of the most thought-out and expertly crafted instruments you will ever experience.
