Fender Custom Shop '64 Stratocaster Heavy Relic in Olympic White

The Custom Shop Strat is based on Pete’s very own ‘Frankenstrat’ with its original '64 neck - but some of the other parts are a bit of a mystery. He wasn’t bothered about the guitar's history because he loved it so much and it sounded so great! In fact, Lee Anderton thought it was so good, he bought it off Pete and the original has now become a part of Andertons folklore.

So, we decided to spec some special Custom Shop Strats along these lines, with that same '64/'65 transition neck. A slightly chunkier neck than you might find on a modern Strat with a slim C shape - but with the modern 9.5" fretboard radius.

With the help of master luthier John Cruz from the Fender Custom Shop, we took measurements of the Danish Pete Strat neck and made sure this guitar has an exact replica of that beautiful bit of Maple wood.

Key Features

• Heavy Relic - Aged to replicate the mesmerising aesthetics of a working guitarist's workhorse instrument. This relic treatment features the typical playwear, dings and decolourisation found on many of the most lusted-over instruments.
• ‘65 C - Comfortable vintage-styled C-shaped neck profile. Fast feeling with a slightly larger profile than earlier ‘60s examples.
• Narrow Tall - Similar to vintage wire but slightly taller and slightly wider for a comfortable hybrid that doesn’t look out of place on a vintage-styled instrument.

'65 Pickups

The Strat is equipped with '65 Fender Custom Shop Single Coils using Alnico V magnets. These deliver a vintage hot tone you’d expect from a mid-'60s style Strat. It adds focus and improves dynamics but also means that if you want a bit more output from your guitar, you’ve got it! Perfect for Hendrix-esque cleans and fuzz tones alike.

These pickups are super versatile and everything you’d ever want from a vintage guitar. Fat and powerful with a crystal clean top-end and bell-like response. 

Resonant Woods

A guitar is only as good as the wood it’s built from, which is why we requested specifically chosen lightweight Alder for these guitars. The fretboard is constructed of a warm Rosewood with Mother Of Pearl inlays on a silky smooth Maple neck for immaculate stability. 

The body has undergone a standard relic job, while the neck has been heavy relic'd to make this feel like a well worn-in instrument, offering a stunningly classy feel.
