Founded in 2022, Castedosa is a brand new guitar company led by Carlos Lopez — a former Fender Master Builder who spent 16 years at the prestigious Custom Shop division. At Fender, Lopez was renowned for his eccentric builds and considered a specialist when it came to crafting niche, alternative electric guitars with some really twisted specs!

Lopez has brought his signature style over to Castedosa, and their flagship model — the hand-built 'Conchers' baritone — is a truly unique instrument designed to "help players express themselves artistically through both sound and aesthetic." Named after Carlos' late grandfather, who was a great mentor and inspiration in his life, the Conchers evokes a cool retro look and sports a variety of intriguing features that include a 27" scale, an aged finish, a triple threat of humbuckers, Kluson tuners, a rock-solid Roasted Maple neck and a high-end vibrato from Mastery.

But why a baritone? Carlos Lopez believes that more musicians are "gravitating towards different sonics" in order to discover their voice; naming Ariel Posen and Mark Lettieri as particular influences in the instrument's creation. • Quartersawn Roasted Maple Neck — "Roasting" is a modern guitar wood treating process whereby moisture is removed from a timber to reduce its weight and increase rigidity. This makes the Conchers' neck far less vulnerable to warping over time, and ensures incredible tuning stability.
• Medium Thick "V" Neck Profile — A big, vintage-style shape that's exceptionally comfortable and supportive at all areas of the neck.
• Rosewood Fingerboard — Luxurious material that provides a smooth, silky touch under the fingers. Features block inlays for a classy look reminiscent of '60s guitars.
• Medium Jumbo Frets — Large size offers a controllable feel; enabling wide vibrato and pitch-perfect string bends.
• Mastery Tremolo — A high-end vibrato system that produces rich, piano-like harmonic overtones. Features a valve spring custom-made from high carbon steel, which precisely returns to pitch even after significant use. "Tabless" fulcrum plate ensures even distribution across entire string edge for a smoother pitch bend.
• Bone Nut — Traditional, low-friction material minimises unwanted tuning slips and boosts sustain.
• Castedosa Custom TS Pickups — Hand-wound by Carlos Lopez's wife, Stephanie. These low-wind pickups beautifully capture the low-end frequencies, and yield a tight sound free from any of the "flabbiness" you'd experience with some baritone guitars.
