Warwick Corvette Basses
Warwick Corvette Basses
The Warwick Corvette has been used by many high-profile artists over the years, most notably by Dirk Lance (Incubus) and Erlend Caspersen (Abhorrent). Because of its notoriously raw and vibrant sound, many rock and metal artists in particular have used this instrument to great effect.
Like with most of its bass models, Warwick experiments with different woods and materials in order to yield different sounds. However, Corvette basses typically feature Ash bodies; a material that is known to accentuate treble frequencies. Paired usually with bolt-on Ovangkol necks, these basses have a snappy quality and a very immediate note response.
The standard Corvette comes equipped with two passive MEC single-coil pickups. Although these pickups sound articulate and pokey, many players prefer the $$ models (double buck) as they are fitted with pairs of humbuckers instead. Possessing a much thicker character, these basses sound more balanced and pronounced in the mid-range, allowing them to merge far better in a band mix. With the ability to tweak their sound via a 2-band active EQ, there are plenty of tones that can be attained.
