PRS NF 53 Guitars
The PRS NF 53 draws inspiration from one of Paul Reed Smith's favourite vintage electric guitars from 1953. It combines a Swamp Ash body with a 22-fret, 25.5"-scale bolt-on Maple neck — culminating in a classic construction. However, a special set of PRS Narrowfield DD ("Deep Dish") pickups inject some modern warmth into the instrument, which are made with taller bobbins to fit more winds and extra metal pieces in between the magnets to yield a more focused, powerful tone.
Additional appointments on the PRS NF 53 include master volume and tone controls, a 3-way blade pickup switch, PRS vintage-style tuners, and a steel plate-style bridge with barrel saddles for that old-school sound and aesthetic. The PRS Myles Kennedy signature guitar, which was released at the same time as the NF 53, adheres to a similar design but comes equipped with a custom pair of hum-free Narrowfield MK pickups and boasts electronics that are a little more flexible than what you'd find on the standard NF 53 — including a 5-way selector switch and a push/pull tone knob that acts as a preset tone roll-off.
Paul Reed Smith on the NF 53:
"I am so pleased with the feedback from the artists who have played this guitar – everyone is telling us that we have something special here," said Paul Reed Smith. "If you are a fan of this style and tone, the NF 53 will take you where you want to go. To me, to have this kind of beautiful high-end without the hum is game-changing."
