Founded in 1965 by Jim Dunlop, the eponymous company has been a longstanding giant within the guitar community. Renowned for manufacturing guitar accessory essentials, including guitar picks, straps and strings, Dunlop’s guitar pedals are still a popular choice among modern players.

Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah Pedals

The Cry Baby wah is perhaps the most famous of these. With over a million units sold since 1966, the Cry Baby range has grown from being just a single pedal to a large and established lineup. The original GCB95 model is still in production, but the Cry Baby catalogue now encompasses a number of artist signature models that are tweaked to offer a more specific sound. Made for the likes of Slash (Guns ‘N’ Roses) and Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), some of these wahs are modified with EQ controls and even feature boost functions for added versatility.

Jim Dunlop Fuzz Face Pedals

The Fuzz Face is another iconic pedal produced by Jim Dunlop. Popularised by none other than Jimi Hendrix in the late ‘60s, these gnarly fuzz boxes helped the legendary musician achieve his distinctive psychedelic sound. Dunlop offers a number of different versions of this classic unit, with silicon or germanium transistor-driven models available. Like the Cry Baby, there are signature and mini versions too!

Jim Dunlop Subsidiaries

Jim Dunlop owns a couple of other pedal brands that are also highly-regarded. MXR is the most noteworthy. Known for its diverse range, MXR was responsible for creating many fabled stompboxes back in the day - including the Phase 90 and Dyna Comp. Jim Dunlop is also the parent company of Way Huge Electronics. Originally owned by Jeorge Tripps in the ‘90s, the brand was resurrected by Dunlop in 2008 and has brought back many of its acclaimed designs. This includes the Swollen Pickle fuzz and the Green Rhino overdrive.
