Gibson SJ-200 Acoustic Guitars
The Gibson SJ-200 (Super Jumbo 200) acoustic guitar was one of Gibson’s earliest flat-top jumbo-sized guitars. Introduced in 1937 it was one of Gibson’s top-of-the-line acoustic models. Originally launched as the J-200 this Gibson acoustic boasted a much larger and curvier body shape which gave it a uniquely powerful and booming tonal character. It was the perfect guitar for projecting at larger performances and venues.
Originally constructed with a solid Spruce top and solid Rosewood back and sides the SJ-200 underwent several small tweaks in its primitive years and by 1947 it was changed to a solid Maple back and sides configuration. This is perhaps the most popular incarnation of this model and is famed for its brightness and note clarification which is perfectly complimented by the depth and warmth of the larger body size.
Each SJ-200 Super Jumbo acoustic comes with a protective Gibson hard case and select models are equipped with an LR Baggs pickup for easy and uncompromised amplification.
