EVH 5150 Amps & Cabs
EVH 5150 Amps & Cabs
Unleashed in the early '90s, the original 5150 was released by Peavey as Eddie Van Halen's official signature amplifier. The model was an immediate hit, with thousands of players seeking to recapture Eddie's distinctive "brown sound" with the help of the 5150. An improved 5150 II was released further down the line, and although both iterations could easily imitate Mr. Van Halen's sought-after sound, the 5150 actually became more synonymous with the hard rock and metal scene for its searing high-gain channel.
The 5150 III is the latest version, now manufactured by the EVH brand that is co-owned by Eddie himself and Fender. Available in a full stage-ready 100W head configuration, a smaller 50W is also available as well as a compact 15W lunchbox-style head. While these standard models come with 6L6 power tubes, there are also EL34-driven 5150s that are designed to offer a more British sound. 5150 combos and matching cabs for the heads are also produced by EVH, meaning that there are plenty of ways to enjoy the huge sound of a 5150!
