Martin Guitars

Since the company began in 1833, Christian Frederick Martin set the standard for excellence in acoustic guitar craftsmanship, making Martin the world's most respected and historic manufacturer of acoustic guitars. Their rich legacy of innovation and tradition has shaped the modern acoustic guitar industry with artists such as Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, John Mayer and Shawn Mendes choosing Martin guitars as their preferred instruments among many other big industry players.

The company has always remained in the Martin family for nearly 200 years. Currently, the company is headed up by CEO Thomas Ripsam and Executive Chairman, Chris Martin IV, the great-great-great-grandson of C.F. Martin, the company’s founder.

Martin has put its name to many innovations including developing X-Bracing now the definitive bracing on all acoustic steel strung, the development of the dovetail neck joint that shifts tone from the neck to the body and the creation of the Dreadnought and OM body shape which have become the most popular shapes in modern guitars.
