The first Martin Guitar workshop was opened 190 years ago. In 1976, Martin introduced the D-19 guitar, that was designed as an upmarket D-18. On the D-18, the guitars top was stained to utilise the Sitka spruce that was cosmetically challenged, which was an early nod to sustainability. C.F. Matin IV decided to dust off that model designation and make 190 contemporary D-19’s to honour their 190th anniversary!
This model also embraces sustainability by utilising cosmetically challenged Adirondack spruce tops that Martin have had in inventory for a while, and a digital microburst design has been added to the top to achieve a figured Mahogany look.
Tonewoods
The guitar has been created with Mahogany on the back and sides, and a lightweight Spruce top to add further resonance to the guitar, making the notes ring out beautifully, on this expertly crafted instrument.
