Banjos

Banjos

Originally derived from Afro-Caribbean instruments in the 17th century, it eventually became a staple in American folk music. Nowadays it’s found in a wealth of different styles and cultures, including country music and Irish folk among others.

The modern banjo comes in many forms. Traditionally, the banjo is a 4 or 5-stringed instrument that gets its sound from a resonator & snare design. While these are still commonly used, brands like Gretsch and Epiphone make guitar-banjo and banjo-ukulele hybrids. This means familiar playability and tuning, which is considered more accessible for those accustomed to guitar playing.
